SERVICE

The Service

Recovery Church Centralia meets every Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. We meet to worship, hear a message or a testimony that encourages a deeper relationship with God, and to learn how to find emotional sobriety from alcohol and drugs through learning and working the 12-Steps and The Principles that go along with each Step, that is based directly out of the 'Biggest Book' - the Bible. We also have "open share" so people can talk about what is on their heart. The last Monday of every month is Anniversary Night at which time we celebrate milestones together and hand out crosses as a tangible reminder of the changes God has made in our lives. Also, on Tuesdays, we host a Bible Study at 7:00 PM.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

(All leaders are listed alphabetically by first name)

Bob M.

Servant

I’m a grateful, "recovered" addict who loves the Highest Power and began the trudge towards emotional sobriety on 13 December 2023.

I was released from the bondage of my past when I embraced the Twelve Steps of A.A, which are based out of the Biggest Book.

I have a sponsor who has a sponsor. I was led to Recovery Church Centralia by what I feel was a divine appointment. I heard from another recovering addict about R.C. Centralia and I felt God’s calling to attend. I have not missed a meeting since I first walked into ‘Drunk Church’ where I was welcomed.

As I have empathy and passion for those who struggle with addiction, I felt that Jesus was calling me to do service at R.C. Centralia.

Since diving headlong into the R.C. Movement and working Steps, it has greatly improved family relationships. Having a personal relationship with Jesus has brought all kinds of growth with the fruit of emotional sobriety.

I was blessed by being R.C. Centralia’s first baptized person on 15 September and having L-B with me in the water.

My life verse is Isaiah 53:5, "But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed." I am now whole and healed.

Christopher Michael Meents

Servant Leader

I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, who is an alcoholic and pretty much addicted to anything that is handed to me. My sobriety date is 5/09/20. I am 52-years old. I have a few sponsors as well as a spiritual advisor/sponsor mix named L-B.

In the last year, I have really gotten into my faith and recovery program a lot deeper. I'm very grateful for life right now. I like serving at Recovery Church Centralia partly because I’m a very quiet person and this forces me to meet more people, talk more, and… I get to be part of a Team. It's a great place to be.

I am also very active in 12-Step A.A. meetings and love attending my church where I get to worship and sit under solid biblical teachings.

My life verse that I learned at Recovery Church is Hebrews 4:12. I read this verse every morning. “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” The reason I love this life verse is because I am now praying more to be sure my intentions are pure and that my heart has no manipulative reasons for anything I do. I just want all my intentions to be pure with no underlying meanings or ulterior motives.

Daniel Rodriguez

Servant Leader / Person of Peace

My name is Daniel R., I am a person of peace. I started my trudge towards Jesus in 1972 when I took myself to church. It was a roller coaster ride until 2005 when I went all in, and have since strove to build a deep relationship with the Highest Power, the only Highest Power, the Trinity!

I did grow up among alcoholics and drug addicts, but the endless problems so many have had with these two killers never was able to seduce me. Part of this not following family members and friends was likely from me becoming a Decorated War Veteran with ten years serving my country and working in Law Enforcement for thirty-one years for which I am now retired. I saw so much while in Law Enforcement that I just do not want to open door to the gates of Hell.

I consider myself a jack of all trades and master of none. One of the blessings I have thrived in as being able to be active in doing mission work both here and abroad with Medical Staff and helping build or at time remodel churches. When I met L-B I found I had a brother by another mother. Recovery Church Centralia, has given me more opportunity to do mission work weekly right her at home. I have from the very start helped with both set-up and tear-down of our Monday church service. And now I am blessed with being a co-leader with our Tuesday Bible study from the Life Recovery Bible.

I believe in the 12 Steps and I love the way that Clarence Snyder, who was alcoholic number forty, who was sponsored by Dr. Bob, approached the steps! This is the way at R.C.Centralia, we bring people through the steps, as it combines the Good Book with the Big Book. I know with confidence, that the steps were taken from chapters 5-7 in Matthew, the complete book of James, and 1 Corinthians thirteen.

My life verse's come from is Psalm 98. 1 Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm has shown his saving power! 2 The Lord has announced his victory and has revealed his righteousness to every nation! 3 He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel. The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. 4 Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! 5 Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and melodious song, 6 with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn. Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King! 7 Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the earth and all living things join in. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out their songs of joy 9 before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with fairness.

I love making a joyful noise to the Highest Power, Jesus are only hope.

Delilah Zaniewski

Servant Leader

I was raised in Washington State and have raised two beautiful daughters. I've been sober for over five years by the grace of God. I got sober during COVID-19 and met my sobriety family through the online Zoom platform. God blessed me with a wonderful sponsor who took me through the 12 Steps. I have also taken women through the 12 Steps. I feel stronger as a person, mom, and friend because of God and the program of recovery. I was also introduced to Recovery Church through Zoom where I fell in love further with God and the Life Recovery Bible. I crave a better understanding of God, His love, and forgiveness for me and others. I love helping others and want to help them bridge that gap between recovery and God, as my sponsor and Recovery Church have done for me.

Joshua Putman

Servant Leader

My name is Joshua P. and I surrendered my marijuana addiction to the Highest Power, the Lord Jesus Christ, on June 10, 2023. The smoke and alcohol had been my losing war, although for quite some time I had put down the bottle and served only marijuana.

Although I had been raised in the faith, it was the diving into A.A., as a desperate man, that I found my faith! I then found myself a sponsor who had a sponsor. The Bible verse from Jeremiah 29:11 I now see, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Then, coming to Recovery Church Centralia/Olympia, I, along with some others, completed all the 12 Steps the way that Clarence Snyder, who was alcoholic number forty, had done and who was sponsored by Dr. Bob.

I did this Step Work when I went through "The Came To Believe Recovery Workbook," our recovery legacy, a 12 Step Guide for those who want to recover, "a simple kit of spiritual tools" based on the founding principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.

I jumped into service work to stay plugged in a little over nine months ago at my Twelve Step home group. Then, the closer I drew to God, I started feeling a pulling on my heart strings, feeling compelled to join R.C. Centralia and Olympia. I'm now doing service as a servant leader and administrating our social media that I’m blessed to manage.

This has taken my love for Facebook to higher levels as I’m now doing this for the King of Kings, Jesus.

I love to sponsor, showing others the path taken from the Biggest Book that the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous used for the Twelve Steps. They were taken from chapters 5-7 in Matthew, the complete book of James, and 1 Corinthians 13.

My favorite hobby is fishing, so it was a natural that my life verse comes from clear direction from Mark 1:17, which is now my biggest passion. "Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” So, let’s all go fishing!!!

Pete Stevens

Servant Leader

I am a grateful recovering alcoholic and a blessed image bearer of God. What is a guy from Wisconsin doing involved with Centralia Recovery Church? I was introduced to RCM in July of 2023 through a church leadership retreat. I felt God call me to take a faith filled risk to travel to Washington in October 2023 to meet LB after a brief conversation.

I was inspired to claim my sobriety on July 16, 2016 when I heard God talk to me through my children. I have been involved with AA for years, but I truly embraced my physical and spiritual sobriety when I surrendered my life to my Lord and Savior Jesus in February 2019.

I am humbled to have been a part of Centralia RCM since our first meeting. I am beyond blessed to be able to encourage others to free themselves of the shame of addiction with the testimony God has written on my heart. We are part of a fellowship that wants to show the world what God has done in us and through us to serve Him and others.

William Laughing-Bear (LB)

Location Lead

I am a grateful alcoholic who started trudging the road of emotional sobriety on March 8th, 2002 through a 12-Step meeting where they used the Life Recovery Bible and the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I have diligently gone after my sobriety like it's starting to rain and I'm the third monkey in line to get on the "sobriety ark." It is a matter of life and death! I love working with other alcoholics and addicts and introducing them to our only Hope, the Trinity of the Bible (our Father God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit). And, just like Dr. Bob, I spend the bulk of my time passing on what I have learned to others who want and need it badly. I do it for four reasons: 1) a sense of duty, 2) it is a pleasure, 3) because in so doing I am paying my debt to my sponsor, Irv, who took time to pass it on to me and 4) because every time I do it, I take out a little more insurance for myself against a possible slip.
